Mainfreight Australia chooses Alliance Business Park for new HQ

MAB Corporation has welcomed global logistics supply chain company, Mainfreight Australia to Alliance Business Park in Epping.

This significant sale will bring up to 300 jobs to the City of Whittlesea. Once complete, Mainfreight’s purpose-built transport facility will also house their national training facility.

City of Whittlesea Mayor Cr Mary Lalios said the announcement is most welcome particularly as the northern region of Melbourne has been hit with significant losses in manufacturing jobs in recent times.

“We are excited Mainfreight has chosen the City of Whittlesea and Alliance Business Park as their new headquarters,” Cr Lalios said. “Epping is a vibrant and increasing economic centre for the north and Mainfreight will add to that with local jobs and the opportunity for further industry development.”

Strategically located in Melbourne’s highgrowth northern suburbs, just minutes from major arterials, Melbourne Airport, Port of Melbourne and Melbourne CBD, Alliance

Business Park sets a new benchmark for master planned commercial and industrial developments in Victoria.

In addition to the existing Hume Freeway interchange located just moments from the site, Alliance boasts another planned freeway interchange on its northern border at O’Herns Road, giving it unprecedented access to two freeway interchanges within 1km.

MAB Development Manager Michael Martin said Mainfreight’s decision to ‘shift north’ is a growing trend amongst logistics companies seeking to strategically capitalise on the location’s access to the eastern seaboard and connections to freeways. Recently large logistic providers have put Melbourne’s north ahead of the west and south east industrial markets when positioning themselves for the future.

“MAB prides itself on delivering great places to work. Whilst the excellent staff amenity we provide is a major draw card, lots within Alliance Business Park can be tailored to accommodate a range of commercial and industrial uses. With lot sizes available from 1,000m² to 10 hectares, combined with the location, expansive architecturally designed reserves, open space and unimpeded heavy transport links, it’s a powerful proposition,” said Mr Martin.

Australian Group General Manager for Mainfreight Mr Rodd Morgan said he is confident in the company’s move to Alliance Business Park.

“This is a significant announcement for Mainfreight,” he said. “The consolidation of our multiple existing sites located north and west of Melbourne to Epping will support our future growth expectations. The well-connected location fulfils our needs in the delivery of our full spectrum of logistics and freight operations.”

With stage one complete, construction of Alliance’s first industrial facilities will commence in August, with the first businesses moving in by the end of 2014.

Construction of stages two and three are well underway due to the outstanding success of the previous stage and strong demand from the market. Stage four is now selling ahead of schedule.

Alliance Business Park is set to become the premier business park in Melbourne’s north and represents an outstanding blue chip opportunity.

With expansive reserves, walking and bike trails, flexible lot sizes, transport links, architecturally designed landscaping and public open space, it heralds a new era for Victorian commercial and industrial developments.

“No matter the size and nature of your business, Alliance Business Park gives staff access to a great working environment and offers the scope and flexibility to help take your business successfully into the future,” said Mr Martin.
