A Major Milestone for The Gasworks

The Gasworks soil remediation is now complete!

This is a major milestone and a significant step towards building a safe and welcoming environment for the community.

MAB has worked closely with the key authorities to ensure the site is remediated for future uses.

Since our last Community Update in December, our contractor, Enviropacific (EPS), has been hard at work. They have successfully:

• Remediated U2 material (minor – moderately tar impacted soil) on site
• Removed U1 material (gross tar-impacted soil) from site
• Installed clean capping material across the entire surface of the site
• Applied Hydrobond (which is a dust suppressant solution) across the finished surface (pictured above).

What’s Next?

With EPS now completing onsite works, we are putting in place important environmental measures to keep the site safe and tidy. Hydroseeding will soon be applied, weather permitting, to encourage grass growth for longer-term dust control and soil stability.

The Auditor will be reviewing site validation data over the coming months. This review is part of finalising the Site Contamination Audit Report — an important development milestone.
