Merrifield Electrical Kiosk Art Project Brings Colour and Creativity to the Community

MAB is excited to unveil a vibrant new public art initiative in Merrifield – the Electrical Kiosk Project – transforming everyday infrastructure into striking artworks that celebrate local identity and creativity.

Recognising the important role public art plays in shaping vibrant, inclusive communities, MAB is committed to delivering works that enhance the physical environment, foster community pride, and improve public spaces.

The Electrical Kiosk Project featured 11 electrical kiosks across Merrifield – located in parks, community spaces and along main roads – reimagined by three talented local artists: Lisa Buckland, Will Elika, and Raghad Rihan. Each artist responded to the theme of sustainable communities and the environment, ensuring the artworks reflected shared values and aspirations. Importantly, the creative process also included community engagement, with the artists partnering with local community organisations to gather insights and ideas that would help shape the final designs.

The original artworks were printed onto durable vinyl wraps and applied to the kiosks, turning once-ordinary infrastructure into eye-catching public art. Beyond improving the area’s visual appeal and reducing graffiti, the project encourages residents and visitors alike to see everyday elements of the streetscape in a new, creative light.

This project is a celebration of creativity, sustainability, and local collaboration – a small but powerful reminder of how art can enrich the public realm.
