Giaan Rooney gears up to open the doors to Brand Junction

MAB Corporation has announced the eagerly anticipated Brand Junction will open its doors for the first time on Friday November 7, 2008. Giaan Rooney, Australian Swimming Gold Medallist will officially open the centre as the face of Brand Junction.

The first of the tenant fit outs have commenced on site this week. The innovative discount brand outlet centre is part of University Hill’s street-based shopping environment and will play host to over 100 big name brands all at highly competitive prices. With up to 70% off year round, the new centre is set to be a major draw card for the North and promises to satisfy a much anticipated need for retail offering in the area.

Mark O’Connell, General Manager Retail at MAB Corporation said, “Independent research revealed that the average population catchment for a department store in Melbourne is around 250,000 people. Melbourne’s north has over 750,000 people and is currently only being serviced by one traditional department store, a result which shows a clear need for retail in the area.

Brand Junction is the equivalent size of a department store, yet it offers over 100 international and national brands at permanently discounted prices, providing a new and exciting alternative to traditional department store shopping for Melbourne’s north,” said Mark O’Connell, General Manager Retail MAB Corporation.

The discount brand outlet centre will comprise of three major retail precincts: Fashion and Accessories, with labels including MNG, Guess, Gazman, Pelaco, Strandbags, Travelite, Novo, Midas, Mollini and Milu Shoes. The Streetwear and Sportswear precinct will be represented by brands including Lorna Jane, Fila, Russell Athletic, Octane, Plunj and Globalize. The Homewares precinct will showcase Sheridan, Laura Ashley, Pure Zone, Manchester and More.

Brand Junction is the latest stage of the University Hill Town Centre which already comprises a Coles supermarket, Westpac, Priceline and 20 speciality stores. A Health and Wellbeing precinct has commenced with the opening of Pelican Childcare Centre, Medical Centre and soon to be joined by a $6 million health club and other medical services. The final stage of the Town Centre development will include an Entertainment precinct with a range of restaurants, bars and cafes and potentially a cinema complex.

University Hill continues to grow at rapid rate with Brand Junction set to open, strong apartment and land sales and a highly successful business park with the second commercial office building commencing construction.
