Minister Justin Madden and media personality Giaan Rooney open the doors to Brand Junction

MAB Corporation opened the doors to Brand Junction for the very first time last night, with an unveiling of the plaque by the Minister for Planning and Community Development, Justin Madden and MAB’s Managing Director, Andrew Buxton, followed by a crowd of VIP shoppers witnessing Giaan Rooney cutting the ribbon and allowing shoppers to run through the centre for the very first time.

Shoppers enjoyed walking around the centre perusing the discounted big name brands, with even further opening specials while enjoying the paparazzi and roving entertainment and a glass of bubbly. The shoppers who were invited to be the first people to in the centre last night joined through a VIP membership competition, run in the lead up to the grand opening.

MAB Corporation began building Brand Junction in May 2007 with the aim of creating the premier shopping destination in Melbourne’s north. It is the first discount brand outlet in the region and is located within the University Hill precinct on Plenty Road Bundoora.

The centre includes a number of firsts: Victoria’s only MNG discount store, the first Laura Ashley concept store of its kind in Australia, and one of the largest GUESS outlet stores.

Australian Swimming Gold Medallist and Media Personality, Giaan Rooney, is the ‘Face of Brand Junction’ and will open the centre to the public on Friday November 7, 2008, kicking off a day of celebration including musical acts and entertainment.

The innovative discount brand outlet centre is part of University Hill’s street-based shopping concept and will play host to over 100 big name brands all at highly competitive prices. Shoppers can expect up to 70% off regular prices year round as is the first of its kind to open in Melbourne’s north for over 40 years.

Brand Junction offers convenient parking with more than 1000 car spaces in the Town Centre providing an added incentive for shoppers looking for an alternative to the congested inner-city centres.

Mark O’Connell, General Manager Retail at MAB Corporation said, “It is the first centre of it’s kind to be opened in this trade area. The north of Melbourne has only been serviced by a single department store despite the population almost doubling in size during this time. Brand Junction will revolutionise the shopping experience in the northern region by offering a never before seen array of leading national and international brands at permanently discounted prices.”

Beyond the extensive range of top brands available, Brand Junction will also be a part of a street-based Town Centre at University Hill which already includes a full line Coles and Priceline Pharmacy, a range of convenience and food retailers and will soon boast a five-star Genesis Fitness Centre and medical precinct.

Brand Junction opens to the public on November 7, 2008.
