State Government and City of Casey endorse jobs creation at Thompsons Base Business Park Launch

Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, the Hon Peter Ryan, with the support of City of Casey Mayor, Cr. Geoff Ablett, today officially launched MAB Corporation’s Thompsons Base Business Park in Cranbourne West.

Mr Ryan said the new business park would result in up to 800 job opportunities for local people in the Casey-Cardinia growth area and begins to realise the aspirations of and planning by the Victorian Government and City of Casey to achieve ongoing local employment opportunities.

“The Thompsons Base Business Park will also boost the Cranbourne West economy and provide a place for local investors to set up small businesses,” Mr Ryan said“

The Victorian Coalition Government is pleased that MAB has already sold 19 lots at its site worth $7.3 million, which represents 20 new businesses for Melbourne’s south east,” he said.

City of Casey Mayor Cr. Geoff Ablett welcomed MAB’s announcement noting the development was a boon for Casey and Melbourne’s outer south east.“Council is working to attract investment to Casey and boost business growth to increase local employment opportunities,” Mr Ablett said.

“The development of the Thompsons Base Business Park will have an enormous flow on effect for the local economy as residents now have another opportunity to work and shop locally. This will have a positive impact on family life with less time spent commuting and more time with friends and family,” he said.

The Mayor confirmed that the first development permit for a multi-office/warehouse development in Thompsons Base was issued in just nine days.“Council is working in partnership with MAB to facilitate planning certainty in the Cranbourne West precinct by committing to issuing planning permits within 21 days,” Mr Ablett said.

MAB Chief Operating Officer David Hall said the launch of Thompsons Base heralds the next generation of business communities and will service the City of Casey which has been consistently part of the top 10 growth councils in Australia.

“This is our first foray into the south east,” said Mr Hall. “We know people don’t want to spend 3 hours in their cars every day traveling to and from the CBD. Thompsons Base brings work closer to home, replacing travel time with time for family and friends,” he said.

At Thompsons Base, MAB Corporation is offering commercial and industrial lots from 1,000 square metres to two hectares with flexibility to accommodate specific company requirements.

The site is zoned Commercial 2 which allows businesses greater flexibility of use.“We want to offer local business operators the scope to design their own spaces according to the needs of their businesses.

”Buyers are offered freehold titles so they will not have to pay body corporate fees and can control their own design outcomes.“Thompsons Base is located only minutes from Cranbourne railway station, Monash Freeway and Eastlink,” said Mr Hall.
