University Hill ‘cottons’ onto another international brand

Colliers International has sold one of the last remaining industrial blocks at MAB Corporation’s University Hill Business Park to “Cottons” Australia.

Cottons specialise in hygiene products and supply Australia’s major supermarkets and outlets with women’s sanitary products.

University Hill’s Project Director Jason Wood commented on the sale, “Despite market conditions, strong businesses continue to recognise the value of establishing themselves in a high quality business park environment that provides a strong platform for long-term capital growth.”

Cottons took a 2,500 sqm lot and will use if for their Australian National Headquarters, warehousing and storage facility including offices for up to 20 people, adding to already established workforce of over 1,500 employed at University Hill today.

MAB have continued to provide close to 400 permanent jobs per year to the City of Whittlesea since the opening of University Hill in 2005 and further jobs will be created within the nearly completed twenty-enterprise office suites development – scheduled for completion in August 2009.

“MAB are delighted to welcome Cottons to University Hill, they are a very successful local business which has been operating in Thomastown for years,” said Mr Wood.

The deal was brokered by Colliers International selling agents Andrew Briffa and David Butera.

“Cottons have been in the market for quite some time and had only started looking in University Hill quite recently, said Colliers Director, David Butera said.

“One of the main reasons Cottons chose University Hill is because it offers their workforce a convenient working lifestyle and the business excellent access to Metropolitan Ring Road and Plenty Road interchange.”

MAB have a created a unique mix within University Hill providing a blend of dining, shopping, convenience and business offerings including a Coles supermarket, childcare centre, Westpac bank, Brand Junction discount outlet centre and a number of cafes and fresh food offerings and well-connected public transport.
